Snake in the grass

Ever since my blog got infested by ‘Nathan of Gaza’, and other regular commentators on the ‘Rationalist Judaism’ site, I’ve been taking more of an interest in what’s really going on over there.

First, you can see the ‘Rationalist Judaism’ blog of Natan Slifkin HERE.

A long time ago, I used to buy Natan Slifkin’s books, including his Perek Shira.

When the chareidi world came out to ban his books for heresy, I first thought that was totally OTT and outrageous – because back then, I was a ‘modern orthodox’ who had strong opinions on things that I really knew nothing much about.

After I moved to Israel, and actually started to learn some real Torah, and to develop some real emuna about how God is running the world, and then came to understand how science and medicine is mostly built on speculation and lies – all that changed.

And I realised the ban was justified.

And I got rid of Slifkin’s books.

====

Fast forward a few years, and Slifkin starts writing the ‘Rationalist Judaism’ blog, which I tried to read a little bit, a long time ago – but had to stop, as the arrogance and heresy literally drips off each post.

And this is where the story would have ended, except somehow, some of his fan base seem to have migrated over to this blog, where they seem to spend an awful lot of time trying to pull down a lot of the investigative journalism posts I write.

====

So the last few days, I’ve been taking way more of an interest in the whole ‘rationalist Judaism’ movement, to see why people who subscribe to that way of thinking seem to be so ‘anti’ my writing, and the information I’m sharing on this blog.

Before we begin, you might want to take a look at the standard of some of the ‘information’ being shared on Slifkin’s blog, like HERE, for example, talking about ‘conspiracy theories’ at Meron.

Here’s a snippet – with my comments IN CAPS after Slifkin’s:

Here’s a nauseating claim made by someone in a comment to my post about Meron:

Have you researched the possibility that it was the government or police that was responsible for the deaths? There are countless write ups about this. Some say that the reason they were killed was so that people would say “chareidim are irresponsible” and use it as a pretext to take away power from their ideological enemies.
Why were the CCTV cameras disabled before the event?
Why were the bleachers damaged purposely in the days before the tragedy?
Why did people pour water on the slope and make it slippery?
Why did the police block off some of the exits?
Why were the police brutalising chareidim before the tragedy? On video btw.
All these need answering too.
==

This is how Slifkin responds to these very real questions:

Now, there are different ways of responding to such offensive stupidity. One is to respond, point by point, to each of the claims:
Q.Why were the CCTV cameras disabled before the event?
A. They weren’t. There is plenty of camera coverage. [Ed. note: ALL THE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED CCTV CAMERAS WERE DISABLED BEFORE THE EVENT, LEAVING ONLY CCTV CAMERAS THAT WERE CONTROLLED BY THE POLICE.]
Q. Why were the bleachers damaged purposely in the days before the tragedy?
A. They weren’t. They may well have been in poor condition, but that’s just because of general incompetence in maintenance. [Ed. note: THERE ARE MULTIPLE WITNESS STATEMENTS SAYING THE POLICE AND THE PEOPLE WORKING FOR THEM DELIBERATELY UNSCREWED THE BLEACHERS BEFORE MERON, ON MULTIPLE DAYS. TOLDOS AHARON WOULD SCREW THEM BACK TOGETHER, AND THE POLICE WOULD UNSCREW THEM. THERE ARE ALSO PICTURES OF THE BLEACHERS BEING ‘HELD TOGETHER’ WITH SILVER TAPE, THE NIGHT OF THE TRAGEDY, AFTER AGAIN BEING UNSCREWED.]
Q. Why did people pour water on the slope and make it slippery?
A. They didn’t. Water was spilled, not deliberately poured. [Ed. note: I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT.]
Q.Why did the police block off some of the exits?
A. To try (possibly very incompetently) to make some order in the chaos. [Ed. note: THIS HAS NO BASIS IN FACT. THE HEALTH AND SAFETY INSPECTORS DEMANDED A MINIMUM OF 4 EXITS TO BE OPEN FROM TOLDOS AHARON PLAZA, AND THE POLICE IGNORED THAT REPORT, TO DELIBERATELY CREATE A SINGLE EXIT ‘BOTTLENECK’.]
Q. Why were the police brutalising chareidim before the tragedy?
A. Fights between police and charedim happen all the time. (It’s generally because of extremist charedim that misbehave, as can be seen in plenty of videos from this week alone.) [Ed note: AGAIN, THIS IS SUBJECTIVE OPINION BEING PASSED OFF AS FACT. AND SLIFKIN APPARENTLY HAS NO PROBLEM WITH POLICE BEATING UP UNARMED INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING WOMEN AND CHILDREN, FOR THE ‘CRIME’ OF A) BEING CHAREIDI AND B) WANTING TO PRAY AT A HOLY SITE.]

If posts like this were unusual, we’d stop here.
But sadly, they aren’t. So I got to wondering, how come this Slifkin guy is always writing anti-chareidi, pro-State of Israel propaganda?
Last I checked, he doesn’t work for known government propaganda outlets like YWN and Israel National News…..
Yet his ‘output’ on the Rationalist Judaism blog is prodigious.
====

As usual, the first place I started was to ‘follow the money’.

In this case, I ‘followed the money’ to Natan Slifkin’s Biblical Museum of Natural History, in Bet Shemesh.

You can find the site for that HERE – here’s a screenshot of the About page:

====

I got to this organisation via this post on Slifkin’s blog, which really upset me, for obvious reasons:

====

Chortle chortle!!

Stupid chareid women, who still believe that God created the world in six days like it says in the Torah, instead of believing what the far more intelligent scientists and ‘rationalist Jews’ say!!

====

So, after discovering all the Reform-Frankist funders behind other ‘anti-chareidi’ groups in the ‘pretend orthodox’ world, I decided to take a closer look at who is ponying up the cash to fund the Biblical Museum of Natural History, and who is on its board.

====

The first name on that list is ‘Lee Samson’.

It’s actually very hard to learn much about him, but he seems to be the same ‘Lee Samson’ listed below, on the LittleSis website HERE:

====

As well as funding Natan Slifkin’s museum, Lee Samson is apparently a big fundraiser for Trump, too.

This snippet comes from an article entitled A look at the wealthy supporters funding Trump’s transition, back in 2016:

On December 7, Donald Trump is set to host a $5,000-a-head breakfast that will raise money for Trump for America, a group that is helping to fund the president-elect’s transition. The fundraiser, which will be help at an undisclosed location in New York, includes 60 hosts….[including]

Lee Samson: CEO of SnF Management, a healthcare facility management company in California.

====

Here he’s mentioned again, on a Reddit discussion from a few years back about a President Trump visit to LA:

====

I went to check out the website of Samson’s ‘Windsor Healthcare Management’ HERE.

The first thing I clicked on was their updated advice for visitors, screenshot below:

====

Why this matters:

IFFFF a blogger is receiving hundreds of thousands of shekels from funders who are in the mainstream ‘healthcare business’; and who have close links to political figures like Trump and former Ambassador David Friedman, you can bet your bottom dollar that this person is not going to write anything that could jeopardise that funding.

If we go back to the Rational Judaism blog, we find that Slifkin has been a huge advocate for masking, and testing, and ‘vaccinating’ during the Covid 19 plandemic.

It’s possible he really came to that position from his own ‘rationalist wisdom’ (ahem).

And, it’s also possible that even if he was totally against masking, testing and vaccinating, he’d never actually have come out and said that, when he has major funders with some sizeable skin in that whole game.

A bribe blinds the eyes of the wise.

Or to rephrase:

A bribe can even blind the eyes of the rational.

====

Let’s move on.

The next name on the list at Slifkin’s museum is: Rabbi Yitzchak Adlerstein.

Here’s some relevant snippets from his Wikipedia page:

Adlerstein served in an advisory and honorary position as one of the founding trustees of the Association for Jewish Outreach Programs (AJOP, known at the time as The Association for Jewish Outreach Professionals), delivering lectures and workshops to Orthodox Jewish outreach rabbis.

Adlerstein studied and received his advanced rabbinical ordination from the Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim in New York. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Queens College, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Adlerstein is the director of Interfaith Affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center… and teaches senior high school girls at Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles.

He writes regularly for the Cross-Currents blog….

During the Slifkin controversy over how Orthodoxy views evolution, Adlerstein was quoted in the New York Times supporting Rabbi Slifkin, who faced intense pressures from Haredi rabbis to withdraw his books.

====

Lee Samson is also a trustee for the Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

And you remember what I said, about ‘interfaith pushers’ always being a big, red flag that something not so kosher is going on?

You can get to the Association for Jewish Outreach Programs (AJOP) Wikipedia page HERE.

====

Hey, would you look at that!

We are right back with the ‘open orthodoxy-pusher‘ Shlomo Riskin, and the AVI CHAI Foundation again, key players in the whole ‘ortho-fem’ movement we’ve been writing about here on the blog.

AVI CHAI is a big funder of ITIM, the organisation trying to ‘shatter orthodoxy’s’ grip on conversions in Israel that we wrote about HERE.

And HERE is where we talked bout how Shlomo Riskin keeps turning up in the middle of all this stuff again and again again:

====

We will come back to AVI CHAI and also the Simon Wiesenthal Centre another time.

I have a feeling there is way more going on with these two organisations than is currently obvious.

Moving on.

====

The next name on the list at Slifkin’s museum is:

Dr Chaim Gelbfish

Within two seconds of googling that, I get to THIS snippet from an Ami Magazine puff piece on JOWMA:

Next I ask Mimi Knoll about her background and involvement in JOWMA as its president.

“I grew up in Brooklyn. My mother is Dr. Chana Gelbfish, a well-known pediatrician in Flabush. My father is Dr. Chaim Gelbfish, a vascular surgeon and one of the medical directors of Hatzalah. My parents both have their offices in the house where I grew up. They always loved being doctors, taking care of patients and giving back to the community.

====

(That is the same Hatzalah who did nothing for 10 minutes, while 45 people got crushed to death literally next to their wooden ‘Hatzalah Hut’, at the bottom of the stairs in Meron….)

====

Now, go and read THIS article written in November 2021 by Chananya Weissman, entitled: ‘Unmasking JOWMA’.

Snippet:

In March of 2019 an organization called the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association (JOWMA) was founded in New York. The cover story is that a 24-year-old medical student by the name of Eliana Fine started it to “support, provide mentorship, and advance the careers of Jewish female physicians and trainees”, whatever that’s supposed to mean.

That same month, this nascent organization founded by students issued a “statement on vaccination” that was published in the Orthodox Jewish media. After railing against “false information regarding the safety and efficacy of vaccinations”, JOWMA made the following radical declarations:

  1. Non-vaccination is antithetical to the core beliefs of Orthodox Judaism.
  2. There are no religious exemptions from vaccination within Orthodox Judaism.

====

Who is funding JOWMA?

Chananya does a good job of trying to track down that information – but even though they are taking out massive full-page ads and getting ‘puff pieces’ inserted across the frum Jewish media…. that information is mostly hidden.

Here’s another snippet, which might give us a clue where ‘JOWMA’ is really coming from:

Paige Herman and Miriam Andrusier became the first same-sex couple from Downstate to attend Harvard together. Andrusier is a JOWMA Advisory Board Member.

====

Are you noticing a theme?

Moving on.

====

I can’t find anything – at all – that could give a clue as to who ‘Dr Charles Hall’ is, or why he’s on the board of the Biblical Natural History Museum in Bet Shemesh.

Next on the list is ‘Ron Hersh’, who I think is probably this guy, screenshot from (HERE):

====

He’s the founder of a RAJE, which stands for ‘Russian American Jewish Experience’.

HERE‘s the website.

In the above pic, he’s getting a prize from the notorious UJA Fed of New York, that was founded by none other than close relative of Jacob Frank himself, Felix Warburg, who we mentioned HERE.

How he made his money, who he really is – I don’t know. But he sure likes Natan Slifkin and ‘rational Judaism’.

====

Moving on.

I can’t find anything much for Dr Steven Weiss, except that he appears to live in LA, and has opinions on the practise of metzitzah b’al peh, performed during a circumcision of a Jewish baby boy.

See THIS article for more, very interesting, details.

(We may come back to the article in a future post, it contains links to a LOT of Frankists and their cohorts, who were trying to sabotage this mitzvah 150 years ago. There is literally nothing new under the sun.)

====

Point is this:

Whenever you scratch the surface of these ‘modern orthodox’ / ‘rational Judaism’ people, you come back to exactly the same ‘Frum-Reform’, ‘Frankist-Zionist’ organisations, and people, and agendas, again and again and again.

====

Why does all this matter?

Slifkin has a new book out, and is getting the sort of positive media attention you only get in the Jewish world, when you are giving the Frankist-Freemasons something they want.

Like this:

====

Who is this guy to tell ANYONE what ‘Judaism should look like’?

Who is this guy, that all these strange people and American philanthropists are ponying up millions of shekels to build him his own museum in Bet Shemesh?

People like Natan Slifkin are not independent.

They are not ‘free thinkers’, whatever the image they are trying to portray.

They are just Trojan horses, pushing whatever heretical ideas their backers want them to push, on an unsuspecting frum public.

There is nothing new under the sun.

And in the meantime, the battle for the soul of the Jewish people rages on.

  1. Nathan of Gaza
    Nathan of Gaza says:

    Did you ever read the Midrash about how Benayahu ben Yehoyada captured Ashmadai, king of the sheidim, for Shlomo HaMelech? At one point on the way back to Yerushalayim they pass a magician doing all sorts of tricks, and Ashmadai starts laughing uncontrollably. Later, Shlomo asks him why he was laughing. “He was acting like he was privy to all the secrets of the universe,” Ashmadai laughs in response, “and yet he didn’t know that there was a treasure buried right under his feet!”

    That’s what I was reminded of when you wrote about the chairman of the board up there, for several reasons, as well as some of the others.

    No, I will let you put in the effort.
